Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.
You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
-James 4:14 (NIV)
This morning I came into work to find that one of our beloved volunteers, Karen Mrja, passed away last night. She had a heart attack here at the library after many of us had gone home. She was just 64.
As the wife of a pastor, I have the distinct privilege to be part of all sides of life. I'm often present at the happiest times & at the saddest. I've experienced the joy of celebrating along side the people of our congregation at weddings & graduations & births of new babies & have walked along side these same people as they experience sickness & death.
As I stood in a small circle of my coworkers, trying to process the news, I realized that I may be the only one in this little band of library workers who has 'experience' with death.
Quietly I found myself saying out loud, "Life is a gift... Every breath we take is a gift from God."
Today. My heart is full. & thankful.
